Tasting Notes:

Chockstone Riesling displays the delicate aromas of wildflowers and citrus blossoms. Hints of guava, kiwi fruit, pear and a distinct minerality float in and out of the palate. A vibrant natural acidity balanced with just a hint of sweetness provides for a focused and seamless palate.

Technical:

The distinct floral and citrus flavours that epitomise our Great Western vineyard were matched by great minerality.  The three Riesling clones we have planted each displayed distinctly different vibrant characters, really enhancing the structure and complexity of our Chockstone Riesling.

The typically low yields and harvesting at the perfect flavour profile lead to the delicate flavours and balance that defines our Chockstone Riesling. Once harvested, the grapes were pressed as gently as possible, and the juice allowed to work its way through a nice cool fermentation with as little intervention as possible. The fermentation came to rest with just a touch of residual sweetness to balance the vibrant acid profile, creating a focussed palate and elegant mineral finish.

Accolades & Awards:

95 points Halliday - I'm guilty of not including the Grampians as a high quality regional producer of riesling in Australia-wide comparisons. The perfumed bouquet of lime and apple blossom leads into a long, mouthwatering burst of lime/lemon, crisp acidity the icing on the cake.

With receiving the 95 points from James Halliday the A.T Richardson Riesling outpointed the following;

93 Points, Bob Campbell

Dry and slightly spicy riesling with a gentle peppermint, lime and floral flavours. Quite a distinctive and appealing wine displaying good purity. An ethereal texture and moderate lengthy finish with a backbone of ripe acidity

90 Points Huon Hook

There is apparently a trace of oak. The palate is intense and rich, with a density and drive that oak helps provide. The finish is long and dry and slightly grippy. There is no lack of generosity.
