An abundance of purple and black fruits, with concentrated notes of dark cherry, bay leaf and dark chocolate. Vibrant fruit supported by elegant tannins and subtle toasted oak create a seamless, layered wine with depth, generosity and graceful aging potential.
Coonawarra shiraz is mostly overshadowed by the region’s cabernet sauvignon – easy to do given the decades of accolades the latter has garnered. Don’t do that here, as this northern Coonawarra grown iteration delivers much of what shiraz can do in the better blocks of the Limestone Coast, and sits very comfortably in its cooler climate styling.

"A substantial offering with multi-layered mouthfeel, it's powerfully concentrated with crème de cassis, cigar box, tapenade and violet characters, combined with excellent weight and density, beautifully framed by fine chalky tannins. The wine is opulent and structured at the same time, making it immensely appealing."

More compelling evidence that Shiraz really is not the poor kid from the wrong side of the tracks in the Coonawarra region. This is from a terra rossa vineyard and the grapes have undergone a light crushing before the juice then spends eight days in fermentation before a gentle pressing. 30% is matured in 2nd fill American oak hogsheads. Red/purple in colour, on a very perfumed nose we have pleasing notes of red cherries, spices, florals and raspberries. Nicely balanced and with excellent length, this finishes with soft yet abundant tannins. The oak is very well handled. The wine lifts on the palate as more flavours emerge from their shell. Delicious now but will drink well over the next five to ten years.
