Tasting Notes:

Dark fruits of blackcurrant and spicy fruit compote with an integrated cedary finish. Fine integrated tannins give the wine structure, integrity and elegance. Grapes were harvested by machine and hand from the Montara Estate plantings. Fruit was destemmed before transfer to 2 and 8 tonne open fermenters. Twice daily pump overs and punch downs were conducted to extract the desired colour and tannin. Wine was transferred to 25% new French oak hogsheads and puncheons for maturation prior to bottling. An extremely elegant age worthy Grampians Shiraz made for the long haul. Careful cellaring will reward. Will pair nicely with choice beef or venison cuts.

"Mostly destemmed fruit with 10% whole clusters retained. Pressed to French oak hogsheads (20% new) for 14 months. Deep purple hues set the scene for a celebration of youthful, fresh Grampians shiraz in all of its spice-fuelled, black- and plum-fruited, dark-chocolate, ripe-tannin, textural self. Distinctive regional qualities here."

"Medium ruby-red colour in the glass. Dark berries, pepper and broken slate aromatics. Medium-weighted on the tongue, blueberry, pepper and a sappy caramel note flow along the palate, fine tannins provide some drive and there’s a reasonable length to the finish."
