Tasting Notes:

After about 15 days, the grapes overripen and dry out directly on the vine, giving us a Primitivo with a complex bouquet of red fruits, raisins and clear hints of marasca cherry. In the mouth it develops all its arrogance, its body is captivating, mature and enhanced especially by its aging in barrique. Primitive Appassimento Reinforced is a wine that remains in your memory for its strong character and great personality.

Technical:

Its style has been defined and refined step by step by our three senior Winemakers of Giordano Vini who have passionately dedicated the last years to study the noble Primitivo vine variety. Their aim was to create an important wine, traditional yet innovative, by removing its harshness as much as possible in order to get a strong structure but without asperity. With 2015 grape harvest they finally achieved their aim. Ripe grapes of the prestigious Primitivo vine variety have not been harvested. They were left on the vine so that their ripening could go on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by the wine guy from A classy Italian I bought a half dozen of this classy Italian wine when it first became available, keen to see what the 99 point fuss was about. I was not disappointed. Smooth, fruity and sweet, but with plenty of robust red wine character. Very easy to drink.

This is a "must have" style to try because it is so excitingly different to any local wine. High alcohol wines which are balanced and soft and delicate, are rare. Delicious port like characters are evident amongst a complex variety of perfectly balanced flavours. Yummy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Philip18 from A big wine I was attracted to this wine because of the 99 point rating by Italy's Luca Moroni, having enjoyed a couple of others of the same rating. The wine is big, rich, and fruit driven. Gentle tannins. Because of its richness, it may divide opinion. I enjoyed it, but will leave it for a while before trying the next bottle.
