Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a dark red hue. Intense dark to black raspberry aromas intermingle with dark plum and liquorice followed by vanillin confectionary and spice. Rich, voluptuous in texture and exceptionally long in the mouth, this is one powerful Grenache. Succulent black raspberry flavours dominate over liquorice and ripe black cherries. There’s an echo of vanillin confectionary on the finish and loads of spice. Bright acidity with firm yet balanced tannins providing a robust framework. Very long conclusion of black raspberries, liquorice, vanillin confectionary and spicy pepper.
Clarendon Hills, a name that stands for perfection. The Clarendon Hills wines can blend among the best in the world. This pure grenache is a masterpiece, Clarendon makes 2 different grenache-based wines that come from 2 different vineyards that are a few meters apart, yet the wines are deeply different. This wine is a power bomb filled with fruits, red cherries, ginger and white pepper, it is extremely elegant and intense.
94 Point Rated - James Halliday Wine Companion
"Much like the Blewitt Springs, the structure and level of tannin is what immediately hits you. Grainy, chalky and crunchy all at once, from start to finish. Yes, the trademark cedar, spices and red to black fruit are there too, but it's the formidable structure that garners your attention. No hurry here."
93 Point Rated - Joe Czerwinski Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2015 Domaine Clarendon Old Vine Grenache blends lots of Clarendon, Hickinbotham and Kangarilla into a lovely mix of spice and fruit. Notes of cinnamon and cherries mingle easily on the nose and palate of this wine, which comes across as medium to full-bodied and gentle in style, not overly extracted or tannic. Drink 2018-2025."
