The wine shows concentrated gooseberry and tropical fruit aromas, complemented by subtle oak and mineral nuances. The palate is full bodied and seamless with a creamy texture derived from extended lees contact.
Our aim in the vineyard is to grow the best fruit we can so it can speak of its home and express its personality. To do this you need healthy vines and soil. By practicing organics and incorporating some biodynamic principles we believe we are doing our best to help achieve this and let our vineyards evolve and speak as they would like.
Sauvignon Blanc is becoming more and more diverse in this country as we all discover the characteristics of sub regions within regions.
At Rock Ferry we like our Sauvignon Blanc to be dry and have depth and texture. We release our Corners Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc around 18-24 months after it is made (depending on what each season delivers) to allow it to develop and reveal these seasonal characteristics. It tends to age well. It sees some good quality oak, both seasoned and a small portion of new, and the wine speaks gently, reverently of the vineyard site.
The grapes are hand harvested and whole bunch pressed. The free run juice is fermented in seasoned French oak using indigenous yeast. The wine is then matured (including 8% new French oak barriques) on lees for 8 months prior to blending and bottling.

Impressively complex, the bouquet shows aromas of grapefruit, peach, feijoa and flint, which lead to a powerfully expressed palate that is concentrated and expansive, firmly structured by bright acidity. A multi-layered sauvignon offering superb fruit intensity as well as stylish savoury notes.

Deliciously creamy, textural organic Sauvignon Blanc with lime zest, mineral and guava flavours. Long and linear wine that is a perfect match with seafood garnished with a squeeze of citrus.

Light straw colour; smoky, nutty, barrel-fermented style bouquet, with honeyed nuances that appear more strongly in the mouth. A well worked wine, not especially sauvignon-like, but intense, deep and quite complex, with a lot of honeyed, secondary complexities. Long, rich and rewarding.
