Tasting Notes:

The nose shows citrus notes, underpinned with aromas of fresh herbs and blackcurrant leaf. The palate is full, lively and balanced with a long, crisp mineral finish.

Technical:

World-renowned for its sauvignon blanc production. The grapes for this wine come from individual blocks in and around the Awatere Valley; because of their proximity to the sea, the conditions here are harsh for grape production. However this contributes positively by concentrating fruit flavours and contributing minerality and crispness.

Selected parcels of grapes picked at perfect ripeness arrive at the winery for pressing; after cold settling for 72 hours, cool fermentation takes place in stainless steel to capture the pure fruit flavours. Fermenting the different parcels separately with carefully selected yeast brings out varietal characteristics. Then the winemaker blends the wine to achieve the desired profile before filtering and bottling.
