Explosive florals, fresh lime, and citrus combine with a hint of rockmelon and wet limestone on the nose. The entry is driven by the nose, with a heap of fruit weight. Chalky in texture with white floral, citrus flavours, and a juicy finish.
93+ Point Rated - Erin Larkin Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2023 Watervale Riesling is supple and spicy and very fine, with an aspirin-like acid line that underpins the fleshy citrus fruit. The wine is utterly pristine in its construction and populated by fruit that is crystal clear and perfectly eloquent of its Clare Valley roots. 12% alcohol, sealed under screw cap."
92 Point Rated - Mike Bennie James halliday Wine Companion
"The milestone of 50 consecutive vintages of this wine comes about with this release; a golden anniversary for a significant Australian wine. This release is attractive for its raciness and zesty, citrus-driven feel. Scents of orange blossom, preserved lime, ginger and blackcurrant. The palate a melange of various citrus, orangey almost with squeezes of lemon and lime, some talc-like elements and a tightly wound, pink grapefruit juice finish. Very pleasurable here, even and flows well, perhaps a touch diffuse in fruit character but a passable thing in a distinct, vigorous and refreshing white wine."
92 Point Rated - Huon Hooke The Real Review
"Intense lemon-pith and gardenia aromas, fresh and bright in the mouth, but also soft and balanced for easy drinking young. Clean and dry but soft at the finish. (50th Vintage Limited Edition bottling)"
91 Point Rated - Gary Walsh The Wine Front
"The ol’ fish n chips special. A slight smokiness, lavender, lime and lemon. A fair burst of flavour, quite juicy, with some peach in the mix, a little bit rugged, but has crunch and a finish of solid length with a slight quinine-like bitterness. No complaints. Ever reliable wine."
