The palate is rich and ripe with a luxurious texture that coats the palate, the signature of an outstanding Chardonnay. Pinot noirs and meuniers from the Vallée de la Marne add intensity, smoothness and juiciness to the wine. The finish is energetic, fresh and saline.
After the First World War destroyed half of the Louis Roederer estate, Léon Roederer decided to replant the vineyards but wanted to keep his Champagne House in production in the meantime. He bought grapes from vineyards that survived, to create a multi-vintage Champagne that would have consistent flavour whatever the harvest. Enter Louis Roederer Brut Premier, a complex, rich and powerful, a cut above other Champagnes in the same price range and Shorty’s has it in a lovely bright bubbly gift box to reward someone in style.
95 Point Rated - Huon Hooke The Real Review
(242) Light straw colour and a savoury bouquet of straw, dry grass, dried herb aromas with richness and ripeness: lemon, honey, subtle nutty overtones and smoky creamy notes. It's quite full in the mouth and very dry, savoury and well-structured, with evident tannins and acidity that call loudly for food. There is richness and amplitude on the palate, giving it the backbone that is needed for a food wine. The finish is long and insistent, the end-palate crisply dry and loaded with energy. The 8 grams per litre of dosage do not show at all, the wine tastes dry and savoury with a mineral grip that is extremely appetising. It's a wine that would also age very well. A new direction for Roederer, the Collection replaces Brut Premier from now on. (A blend of 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2011 and 2009.)

Aromas of cooked apple, bread dough and lemon tart follow through to a full body with round, delicious fruit and a rich, flavorful finish. Yet, it remains tight and fine with lovely, compressed bubbles. New energy and freshness. Medium-to full-bodied with layers of fruit and vivid intensity.

(242) Based on the 2018 harvest, blended with a ‘perpetual reserve‘ started in 2012 plus reserve wines aged in large French oak foudres, 243 Brut reaffirms the greater complexity of the new blend thanks to its aromas of shortbread, almond pastry and cherry-stone. A myriad persistent bubbles dissolve with seamless textural quality and it finishes with an appetising, citrusy tang on a saline dry note.
