Tasting Notes:

Our Village family of wines are classic expressions of the varieties that the Yarra Valley does best, letting the bright, vibrant fruit flavours speak for themselves. Vibrancy offered from juicy red fruit notes, leading into a complex of savoury characters. Fine-grained tannins and bright acidity provide an elegant structure.

Technical:

Totally de-stemmed, whole berry ferments. Hand plunged once a day, increasing to twice daily during peak ferment. Gently pressed with final 50-100L/t separated off to avoid hard tannins.

A developed colour, medium to deep brick-red with a tinge of brown in the rim and a bouquet that also echoes the developed theme. There are chocolate and vanilla traces over dried herb and earthy nuances. The palate backs up the pre-aged theme and fades quickly in the finish to a firm concluding tannin grip.

Highly Rated Campbell Mattinson

Smoky, slightly bacony oak plays through dry, cherry-plum fruit. It’s not a big pinot by any stretch but it has some flex to it, some muscle. The accompanying press release suggests that the tannin here is finely boned, and that’s a good way to describe it. Boney tannin, smoked through, the fruit then pushing juicily on. Pretty decent.
