On the palate, this wine is elegant and refined with an array of dark blood plums, cherry and blackcurrant, balanced with savoury cacao, gamey meats and smoky spice. Beautiful powdery tannin mixed with bright acidity hold balance between the elements, allowing fine length finished by some lingering creamy oak.
Each vintage we select a premium parcel from a single vineyard to bottle separately. The Johnsons Block was first bottled as a Shiraz/Cabernet blend in 2003, and again in 2004. This is the first release of Johnsons Block Cabernet Sauvignon as a single parcel. Planted in 1954, Johnsons Block is the oldest surviving Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in Coonawarra. These heritage vines produce a distinctively fine and aromatic, dark fruited wine each year. 2014 was a great season for this historic vineyard and it is fitting that we acknowledge it as our single vineyard release.

A mere 60 years later, it makes its debut as a single vineyard wine bringing forth its unique elements that centre on savouriness.
