This wine is an example of the elegance that an old vine Shiraz and Grenache can bring to the table. With wild strawberries and raspberries on the nose and a lightness of bright cherries and spice on the lengthy palate, the flavours are delightfully balanced with soft tannins. This wine is ideal wine with Mediterranean meat dishes. There is a European style to the weight of this wine, which comes from the quality vines, thoughtful viticulture, and a dedication to detail in vinification techniques.
Crushed to small open fermenters for a slow and cool fermentation with hand plunging twice a day before being gently pressed to barrel. The two batches of Shiraz and one of Grenache were treated similarly, although kept separately until the final blending stage. Both varieties are aged in older French oak barrels for 14 months to mature well, but without oak influence on flavour.
58% Shiraz and 42% Grenache

An undeniably pretty wine that showcases the elegance of the cool 2017 vintage. The nose is awash with lifted red cherry and a dusting of spice. The palate is medium bodied with a subtle build of fine tannins that enjoy oak derived richness alongside pristine plum and cherry fruits. Excellent length to finish with a back and forth between fruit and subtle milk chocolate notes that are quintessentially McLaren Vale.
90 Points Huon Hooke
Medium red/purple colour. The aroma is youthful and spicy, with a lick of ginger, the palate lively with liberal acidity and slightly edgy tannins. A very pleasant wine, already drinking very well, but also with a future.
