Rich, intense and black in colour. Fruit-driven, it has ripe berry characters of cherry, plum and chocolate. Initially the nose appears more elegant in style than you might expect. The palate is fleshy, focused and fragrant. Ripe berry characters, which will enable this wine to age well, there is definitive cherry, licorice, leather with gravelly tannins lingering on the finish.
Sourced from a single vineyard in the heart of the Heathcote region nestled between the Goulburn Valley and Bendigo regions. The region is famous famous for one thing and that is creating Shiraz of a quality and character not seen anywhere else in Australia. North of the Great Dividing Range our vineyard has an elevation of 230 metres and the Mt Camel Range influences the climate and our soil. The soil is Cambrian, which is the major factor in creating our wines characters due to the red and deep soil with fantastic water holding capacity. The 2013 and 2012 vintages were hard to separate in terms of quality with perfect growing conditions throughout the season everything went to plan from a grape growing and as a result winemaking point of view. Hand selected fruit was picked and de-stemmed prior to crushing and fermentation on skins. We kept each parcel separate from the four separate picks over a 3 weeks period. We used older oak for a 12 month period to allow the true wine and fruit to prevail over the oak influence. Will drink well now although will age well and develop more complexity over the next 8+ years potentially.

"Toasty, spicy nose with hints of dried meat. The palate is weighty with juicy black fruit, rich hints of liquorice, black olive and tea and a broad tannic structure."
