Tasting Notes:

Deep crimson in the glass with cherry red hues. The nose has rich aromas of plum, blackcurrant and aniseed. A classic Australian blend gives a layered palate with the rich round fruit of Shiraz and classic tannic structure and length of the Cabernet giving an harmonious deeply satisfying wine. The palate is of medium weight with soft tannins and a firm acidity that tightens the mouth feel and extends the length of the wine. Finishes with lingering flavours of vanilla and cedar.

Technical:

The 2011 vintage in South Australia was challenging in many ways. Quality varied considerably by both region and variety, with an above average rainfall and a cooler than average ripening period. To this end select parcels of fruit across various regions and the need to blend two varieties to achieve this signature style this year. Minimal French oak was used in this vintage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Clivestar from Big Flavour, Small cost! This is a real value wine and an example of how lucky we are to be an Australian wine lover at the moment. Just what you'd expect from an Aussie Shiraz from a reputable region: big, bold and beautiful. Not for the faint hearted and would no doubt do well with a few years cellaring under its belt. I doubt I can resist it for that long. Best of all is the absolutely outstanding price. The quality for the price is an absolute steal - I'm trying not to feel guilty!
