Tasting Notes:

Deep dark purple in colour, this wine instantly impresses with aromas of raspberry and blackberry, complemented by spice, subtle vanilla and coffee bean. It's a full-bodied wine; the red fruits in the mid-palate are balanced with integrated fine, long tannins and hints of sweetness and spice from the oak. The soft integrated tannin structure gives the wine elegance and mid-palate structure. The multi-layered flavours and long lingering finish make this an impressive wine.

Technical:

Grant Burge is the 5th Generation of his family to be involved in winemaking in the Barossa Valley. Such a long and distinguished history deserves to be celebrated and here they do it with their 5th Generation Shiraz. A Barossa icon in itself, Shiraz from region displays ripe, dense and complex fruit weight and the 5th Generation delivers on all fronts.

"A shiraz, yes, but not entirely, and therein lies a bit of a tale with minor but telling contributions to the shiraz performance with a pinch of tempranillo, grenache, graciano, montepulciano and 0.5% of 'other'. Earth, game, smoked meats, red licorice, dark cherries, high spice and, yes, definitely a wildness. Is grenache responsible for the confection? Good value for those who like a walk on the wild side."
