Tasting Notes:

The 2023 Fantini Sangiovese from Italy showcases a stunning garnet red colour and a deeply aromatic bouquet, boasting fruity notes of strawberry and black cherry with a subtle wood undertone. This medium-bodied wine offers a perfect balance of tannins and is perfect for pairing with classic Italian cuisine, as well as baked meats and fish.

Technical:

The refined "Fantini by Farnese” wines are made with the best selected grapes coming from the Farneto Valley and other important estates in Abruzzo; they complete their aging process in the beautiful cellars of the Caldora Castle, a historical building that the company wished to renovate in order to safeguard the cultural heritage and the viticultural tradition of the territory of Ortona. The attention of the company to the smallest details has brought the Fantini wines, of which the Fantini Sangiovese 2023 is a standout, towards new horizons of quality: for the top wines, for example, a double and rigorous selection of the single grapes is carried out, believing that only the best berries can be transformed into great wines. The grapes for this Sangiovese are grown in the territories of Ortona, San Salvo and Pollutri on the Adriatic coast. The vines are planted with a south eastern aspect on clay-limestone soil and trained using a pergola training system. The grapes are de-stemmed and crushed before undergoing an initial cold maceration for two days. Maceration and fermentation followed at 22-24°C for 9-11 days. Between 10 and 20% of the wine is aged in oak with the remainder aged in stainless steel.
