Tasting Notes:

The 2013 Fiddlers Creek Shiraz Cabernet wine displays a ruby red colour plus a distinct aroma of black licorice supported by cherry fruit and complex spices. The palate is also generous in black cherry fruit and spice, supported by soft integrated tannins. 18 months maturing in American and French oak barrels has softened this wine and developed some chocolate and vanilla notes so it is very approachable now in it's youth but robust enough to cellar mid term. Try this wine with barbequed lamb, kangaroo fillets, or with fine hard cheeses.

Technical:

Fiddlers Creek was named after two gold miners whose jubilant fiddle playing gave away the location of their secret gold reef. Shiraz produces some of Australia’s finest dry red wines especially from regions such as the Pyrenees of Western Victoria, where naturally low cropping levels lead to concentration of flavour. The 2012 / 2013 growing season, one of the highest ever rated, started with the regular cold winter and was followed by a cool spring & summer, including periodic rains, then finished perfectly by a warm dry autumn which perfectly ripened the Shiraz grapes of Victoria’s Pyrenees district. 5% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes adds a minty edge to a unique regional blend.

Accolades & Awards:

Huon Hooke, 2015

Blue Pyrenees Estate is consistently one of the best value red-wine producers in the country. The prices are a gift
