Tasting Notes:

Rich deep purple in colour. The palate is perfectly balanced with complementary fruit flavours of blackberry and plum. Elegant fine tannins giving balance, power and density of flavour. A rich and soulful expression of a typical Barossa Valley Shiraz.

Technical:

Named after Gregory Blaxland, who as the co-leader of the first successful crossing of the Blue Mountains, later became one of the first settlers to plant grapes and make wine in Australia. This is the first vintage named in is honour. Extended skin contact allowed the palate to soften. This wine matures in 1 year old French oak barrels for 6 months to allow the fruit aromas to develop.

Accolades & Awards:

92 Point Rated - James Halliday Wine Companion

"Extended post-ferment maceration was followed by maturation in 1yo French oak for 6 months. Dense and deep, but vivid, crimson-purple hue; an impressive wine at the price, with real aspirations to elegance, French oak playing a role on both the bouquet and light to medium-bodied palate; both black (predominant) and red fruits are associated with a pinch of spice, supported by fine tannins."
