The Gamay vines used for this wine are grown on the slopes of the rolling Beaujolais hills. The climate and terrain combine to make an exuberant fruity red wine with juicy crushed strawberries and cherry characters. The palate is soft and approachable with vibrant acidity and a mouthwatering bitter cherry finish.
Arc du Rhône is named after the classified group of villages which together line up to form a geographical arc across the valley of the southern Rhône and is known locally as the 'arc of gold' This Côtes du Rhône Villages is typically full-flavoured, lusciously fruity with a delicate spice in the finish; made without oak maturation principally from Grenache Noir, Syrah with some enriching Carignan Noir.
Matthew Jukes Reviews on Previous Vintage Release;
"There is no need to push the boat out on an all purpose, workhorse, wintry red. You need to find a brilliantly made, bargain-priced wine and then go for it in epic quantities. This unoaked red (although you wouldn’t know it on account of the spicy and savoury notes) comes from the heroic 2009 vintage and it uses the time-honoured Southern Rhône blend of grenache, syrah and carignan, just like a Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vacqueyras or Gigondas. Even the label looks quite smart, so you don’t have to decant it for fear of being outed by a rogue wine snob. The main attraction of this wine though is the alluring nose and superb palate. We wine bores use the term ‘velvety’ too much in our copy, but this wine is texturally incredible. The fruits of the forest flavours, earthy twist and refreshing tart finish make it unmissable, too."
"This is an unoaked red from a brilliant vintage and it is made from the traditional recipe of grenache, syrah and carignan. What I adore about Arc is the seamless, silky, summer pudding flavours and the delicious, lip-smacking twist of spice on the finish. Arc is a joyous wine."
