Tasting Notes:

Bright ruby red, mellowing to brick red at the edges. A range of characteristics can be identified on the nose - pepper, balsamic, leather, tobacco and black cherry fruit. Medium-bodied palate with elegant, ripe flavours and excellent depth.

Technical:

Aged in the cellars of Bodegas Navalón in the small DO Valdepeñas, located in the heart of Spain. Bodegas Navalón has been the passion of the same local family for several generations. This is exactly the sort of wine one would expect from the classic, upscale package - a traditional, Spanish, oak-aged Tempranillo, but with an intensity of fruit and complexity that is unusual. The Tempranillo grapes were hand-picked at the optimum point of ripeness from 30-year-old vines in stony Valdepeñas vineyards. The soil is clayey lime and the climate continental - cold winters and hot, dry summers. After fermenting in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature for 15 days, the wine is aged in French and American oak for a minimum of two years.

Even if you don't know the varietal, you won't be disapppointed, as this is a great wine at a brilliant price. Easy drinking, lighter style with a subtle vanilla backed pallet. Go get some!

Have drunk it with roast lamb, curry, pizza and all have given that fatty layer in the mouth that heightens the taste. an excellent buy and am looking to buy more

Tends to be the better wines that are held for this period and this is a good example of a well matured, very favourful wine with a very long finish. Well worth buying to sample a good Spanish wine from a major region.

A fine example of the grape and style - having recently toured Spain this wine instantly reminded us of a range of tasting and dining experiences. Good fruit, elegant and satisfying, great with tapas, being able to accompany delicate flavours as well as complement the robust. A well priced buy!

Brick red with a complex nose that carries through in the palate with a soft finish. Excellent winter drink to accompany ox tail cooked slowly in the oven!
