Grenache from old and low-yielding dry grown vines within the Watervale sub-region of the Clare Valley were vinified separately, and remained so until the final wine was assembled. Fifteen months of maturation in a selection of seasoned French oak puncheons provides a softness and elegance to the plush velvety palate.
Crafted from two Watervale vineyards which are dry farmed, hand pruned and hand harvested with an average vine age of 70 years. Together, they set a very high standard for this classic Clare Valley Grenache.

"It's immensely complex and seductive on the nose showing dark berry, smoky bacon, potpourri, cedar and dark chocolate notes, leading to a powerfully graceful palate offering terrific concentration within a velvety frame. Richly styled yet harmonious and refined with an impressively long polished finish. At its best: now to 2033. $65.00. www.kilikanoon.com.au. May 2022."

"We recently looked at the excellent Walton’s Block Grenache from this producer, an old block of vines from the Clare. Now comes their Oath Grenache, again from the Clare and from another strong vintage. I think that I might prefer this one even more than the Walton at this stage. In ten years, who knows, but it will be fun to find out. Great to see the Clare doing so well with this variety – exciting things lie ahead. A lovely pale crimson in colour, there is a hint of cinnamon-y spice, warm earth, dry herbs, cherries and leather. Red fruits, especially raspberries, are to the fore. Supple, soft and with impressive length, this wine offers the classic Grenache tannins, both silky and ever so slightly sandy with very good overall balance. This is a cracking Grenache – it really does have a good decade ahead of it."
