Tasting Notes:

3x Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz 2021 - 14.50% Alc

Red and black cherries, ripe raspberry, boysenberry and a lick of baking spice. Morello cherry, blackberries and raspberries along with a mix of cloves, cardamom and white pepper. Fine tannins and an understated length provided by a delicate acid line.

3x Iconic Reserve Heathcote Shiraz 2015 Cleanskin - 14.50% Alc

Aromas of dark cherries, plum and licorice. It’s a seductive nose enticing you in for the initial taste.
Full bodied Heathcote Shiraz at its finest with ripe black berries, plum, aniseed and dark chocolate all obvious features on the palate. Some earthy character and a firm tannin backbone are also evident although have harmonized well with time in bottle to combine with the fruit flavours and provide a plushness on the enduring finish.

3x Taltarni Pyrenees Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre 2021 - 14.00% Alc

With a deep plum colour, this medium-bodied wine is perfectly balanced, while still showing the finest points of each varietal. The Grenache contributes the core bright red fruit aromatics and sweet, dark berry flavours on the palate while the Shiraz intensifies the palate with earthy notes and enriches the weight. The Mourvèdre ties the blend together by adding soft spice notes to the aroma and palate while lingering long on the finish.

3x Yering Station Little Yering Yarra Valley Shiraz 2021 - 14.00% Alc

Juicy, spicy plum and blackberry fruits with delicate background notes of white pepper. Enjoy a soft, lush palate, full of blue and black fruit with hints of violet and white pepper which add lovely complexity to the rich fruit profile.

Accolades & Awards:

Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz 2021

94 Point Rated - Campbell Mattinson Halliday Wine Companion
"It's spicy and well fruited but mostly it's an exercise in putting all the various components exactly where they should be. Everything here feels exact, and exacting. Red cherried fruit, black pepper notes, integrated cedar oak and drifts of assorted florals, all of which hone to a long, peppery finish. It's mid-weight at most and it's all it needs to be. This is the kind of wine that gives elegance its good name."

94 Point Rated - Ray Jordan Wine Pilot
"Beautiful, perfumed aromas greet from the start, cherry and dark plum with a spicy raspberry nuance. The palate is medium bodied and elegantly presented with those cherries and blackberry flavours emerging with a little sprinkle of pepper and dried herbs. The oak is well-weighted with the fine chalky tannins in support."

93 Point Rated - Gary Walsh The Wine Front
"Quite the dramatic name, is Cliff Edge. Could also be the name of an Australian private eye, and I’m something of a huge fan of the Cliff Hardy novels by Peter Corris. Anyway, that aside, average age of vines is now 25 years, and it gets 30% new French oak.Black cherry, raspberry, five spice, a little cedar oak. It’s medium to full-bodied, with plenty of cherry and forest berry fruit flavour, a fine dusty/peppery feel to tannin, quite fresh, with maybe something a little more savoury in the aftertaste, like black olive. The length is good also. It’s a good Cliff Edge, and also a rock solid expression of regional Shiraz."

92 Point Rated - Erin Larkin Robert Parker Wine Advocate

"The 2021 Shiraz Cliff Edge is rocky and purple on the nose with crushed granite, blackberry, white pepper and raspberry compote. Not hugely complex, but it is hugely satisfying. This is a concentrated, cool-climate Shiraz. It's a great (super) value at around $30 AUD. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap."

Taltarni Pyrenees Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre 2021

93 Point Rated - Toni Paterson James Halliday Wine Companion
"These classic Rhone varietals have been expertly blended to create a wine with harmony and flow. The wine offers effortless drinking, with flavoursome dark cherry fruit accented by black pepper, anise, and red rose. Everything is in balance, and there are no harsh edges. Rather delicious."

90 Point Rated - Shanteh Wale Wine Pilot
"Grenache 45% Shiraz 37% Mourvèdre 18%. Raspberry, red cherries, black plum and mulberry. An assortment of red and black hues. Picked thyme, kalamata olive and dark chocolate mint. What follows is turned earth or potting soil savoury notes on the mid palate. This is a wine that delivers flavours right through from front to back, first sip to the last. Its lively and crunchy red fruit meet a savoury meaty mid palate followed by a hint of spice and hug of oak with pancetta and peppercorn the lasting impressions. Certainly a wine utilising the best of all three varieties in a cohesive way. I’d like to see this alongside charred meats, perhaps something skewered and on an open flame. Marinated lamb, pickled beans and flatbread would be a treat. Dressed in a puffy down jacket and crowded round a fire would be even more enticing."
