Xanadu DJL Margaret River Chardonnay 2019
Pale straw. The bouquet of this fresh, fruit driven Chardonnay displays nashi pears and grapefruit characters with underlying hints of oyster shell and oatmeal.Medium bodied and tightly coiled displayed white fleshed stone fruits and zesty citrus flavours. Minerally/quartz-like characters are complimented by a lovey creamy texture derived from lees stirring whilst in barrel. The vibrant fruit and crisp acidity combine to focus the wine perfectly to a lingering fruit finish.
Niche Chardonnay 2021
Pale green/straw colour. Citrus fruits are the hero with quite a deal of depth to the nose and some stone fruit notes sneaking through. Flavoursome mouthfuls of citrus and stone fruit are the hosts and blend seamlessly to create a silky rich mid palate which is voluptuous and well rounded. Some subtle hints of freshly cut grass give an interesting side note whilst crisp acidity bounds the palate into a beautiful complex and drinkable wine.
Emporium Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay 2020
Single vineyard frown and hand picked from the celebrate cool climate of Mornington Peninsula, only the finest fruits are used to create this elegant Chardonnay. Driven by white flesh peach and melon bouquet is lifted by undertones of summer honeysuckle and citrus notes. On the palette stone fruit dominates, balanced with hints of tropical pineapple. A brief period on oak provides creamy cashew like nuttiness and velvet mouth feel
Alexander ‘King’ Cameron Heritage Reserve Limestone Coast Chardonnay 2021
Saturated gold to straw. Aromatically brilliant with wonderful varietal definition and regionality with natural fruit and measured oak complexity. The palate is medium bodied in its youth with balanced flavours of melon, papaya, peach and apple whilst some lovely interwoven notes of nutty smoky oak from French oak influence. Will drink well now although will age well and develop more complexity over the next 4 years at least.
Chain Of Ponds Pilot Block Adelaide Chardonnay 2020
Golden straw with a pale green hue. The nose shows lifted floral and citrus notes with integrated white peach and nectarine. Hints of savoury oak spice lifts the nose and gives complexity allure. On the palate there is ripe stone fruit characters, fresh nectarine with integrated fig and citrus notes. Savoury oak rounds out the palate with gentle textural tannins balancing the creamy soft finish from the lees contact. Well structured with balanced acidity, generous richness and great persistence.
Xanadu DJL Margaret River Chardonnay 2019
The growing season began with a late budburst after a relatively cold Winter with reasonable rainfall. The cool Spring which followed resulted in some uneven flowering and fruit set, and generally lower than average yields. We experienced a significant and unusual rain event midJanuary which was timely due to the later season. This was followed by some fine, mild weather to get vintage underway. There was a complete lack of Marri blossom leading up to and during harvest which meant that bird pressure was extreme, with netting absolutely vital. The cooler ripening conditions did result in amazing flavour intensity and acid retention in the whites. There was a minor rain event coupled with high humidity mid-March which presented some challenges requiring careful fruit selection, although this gave way to some beautiful weather right through till late April. All of the fruit for the 2019 DJL Chardonnay was Estate grown on our Stevens Road and Boodjidup Vineyards in the Wallcliffe subregion of Margaret River.

Xanadu DJL Margaret River Chardonnay 2019
90 Point Rated - James Halliday Wine Companion
"It's lean in chardonnay terms but it's long, elegant and well put together. In fact comparing it with the Exmoor Chardonnay of the same vintage it's worth the extra money. Whispers of sweet oak and a palate rushed with nectarine-like flavour. It's a tamed version of Margaret River Chardonnay but it's a satisfying one."

Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front
"Young and fairly lean but you’d imagine that it will develop well over the next few years. Lovely cool lines of stonefruit-accented flavour with whispers of sweet oak. It’s not quite there for now but give it some extra bottle time."
Yering Station Little Yering Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2020
90 Points - Campbell Mattinson The Wine Front
"As an off-hand remark I’d wager that it’s harder to find good chardonnay pickings at the “affordable” level now. At the upper end the general standard has increased dramatically over the past 10-15 years but along the way it’s vacuumed some of the quality lower down. Thought of the day. This wine avoids that trap and offers good value. It’s generally light and frisky but it has the tools to give richness a shot. Citrus and nectarine flavours are the mainstays but there’s yellow peach, butter and cedar here too. We’re in business here."
