Wirrega Vineyards Limestone Coast Sauvignon Blanc 2017
Wirrega Vineyards near Mundulla in South Australia’s Limestone Coast have been growing quality wine grapes for the last 25 years. The area is littered with enormous sink holes, that open up during periods of heavy rain to top up the enormous underground aquifers. Locally these sink holes are referred to as ‘Runaway’ holes
Redwood Hills Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016
Our Wairau Bar Home Vineyard is cane pruned on 3 and 4 cane VSP trellising. The rich top soils of the lower Wairau Valley have long been considered the finest agricultural soils in Marlborough. They give us complex flavours and pungent aromatics. Combine this with the influence from Rarangi alluvials deposited by the mighty Wairau River hundreds of years ago, and we present a wine brimming with complexity, personality and expression.
The fruit was harvested in the cool of the morning and transferred to the winery where it underwent temperaturecontrolled fermentation in stainless steel tanks using carefully selected yeast cultures. Post-ferment maturation on fine lees gives the wine a refined texture to compliment the exuberant aromatics.
The 2015/2016 growing season was warm and dry. A couple of heavy, but isolated, rain events in January and March provided some drought relief and kept canopies healthy and green. There was very little disease pressure leading into harvest, so we were able to pick blocks purely on flavour and ripeness. The resulting wine is an aromatic and generous expression of Sauvignon Blanc.
Motueka Vineyards Nelson Sauvignon Blanc 2018
The town of Motueka in the South Island of New Zealand lies close to the mouth of the Motueka River, on the western shore of Tasman Bay. The name Motueka or more correctly Motuweka, comes from the Maori language and means ‘Weka Island’. The Weka being a small bird of the Rail Family.
Chain of Ponds Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2016
Sourced from five vineyards stretching almost the entire length of the Adelaide Hills GI. A selection of harvest dates allows the balance between herbaceous, apple and cucumber notes to be carefully entwined with the citrus, melon and tropical notes. All parcels were picked early in the morning to retain the crisp refreshing flavours of the grape.
The grapes were delivered to the winery at dawn and destemmed but not crushed straight to air bag press in which the free run and pressings fractions were separated and clarified. All parcels were fermented separately with traditional Sauvignon Blanc yeasts. The wine was stored on yeast lees for 4 months to build some mouth feel and texture then blended.
